Definitely we could not complain about the sightings that day \O and your might be right with the white lion genes ;-)

We only left camp very late for a short afternoon drive into the direction of Girivana and along the way we discovered a lot of general game enjoying the fresh green grass.

Image

A bit farer away in a bush we then detected a night heron

Image

and in a tree white backed and white headed vultures.

Image

It was then quiet a Girivana but it heated a bit up over the day but luckily in the dry stream to cross there we discovered a hamerkop

Image

but as nothing else was around we did not stay that long but returned back to Nsemani where a larger group of giraffes

Image

were on the way to the dam

Image

and we even had to stop to let them cross the road.

Image

A couple of cactuses could be seen as well

Image

and whilst driving back via the tar road more vultures could be seen

Image

and whilst I already was complaining about the lack of marabou storks lots of them appeared now far away and even closer

Image

and with more vultures we returned back to camp and enjoyed our very last braai there.

Monday, 24. February, 2021 – Satara - Olifants

Explored roads: H1-4 – H7 – S40 – S12 – H7 – S39 – H1-5 – S89 – S90 – S92 – H8 – S44 – S93 – H8

As always moving days are not nice you just began to feel comfortable and home in your bungalow and then it is again time to pack everything together and start in a new one but on the other hand this is that magic about Kruger visits. At least we started again slowly with a brewing hot coffee on our verandah and in no time we were ready and drove into the direction of Nsemani here we soon had to stop as two hyenas were in fact not that happy about clearing the road

Image

to let us as well as other cars pass.

We only stopped at Nsemani for a quick view and wanted soon drive via the S40 one final time to Girivana when suddenly a familiar silhouette crossed the road and I only noticed with the glimpse of my eyes the white tip of the tail. When we arrived where we supposed the leopard might have crossed the road he was still there but for sure was staring into the other direction.

Image

Now I started to speak to myself: “Please turn the head around, please turn the head around at least once for a quick shot” and what to say he did.

Image

It was still only a short audience by the leopard but a leopard is a leopard and so we were extreme happy that we even could see him from the front

Image

but he had no time to stay longer and soon walked farer into the bush and we never noticed him again although we waited a while.

Image

Finally we still drove the short detour via Girivana but it got quiet again but we stopped for another brown snake eagle

Image

and white headed vultures extreme close in a tree where we stood

Image

Image

and not far from the vultures in another tree we even noticed a beautiful bateleur,

Image

however, the rest got quiet again

Image

and soon we already turned into the tar road again where it got somehow extreme misty as Mr. elephant showed us.

Image

Maybe due to the mist we did not see anything else and already turned into the S39 where close to the road as otherwise we might have missed same we spotted a couple of yellow billed hornbills

Image

and noted something running in the higher grass which revealed as black backed jackal

Image

from which we even got from time to time a couple of shots.

Image

to be continued…….

A whole bunch of birdies again, Pumbaa! \O

I love the giraffe shots too.

What an old leopard!

Those cactuses (prickly pears) are invaders and should be removed ASAP! @#$

When do you decide on your routes, the night before? -O-
