Insect or Invertebrates Identification - DONE

Haven't been able to find this one in the book but it's not a Wolf Spider XF, the eyes are completely wrong.

Meanwhile, while I was looking I think I found one of mine. I thought this was a Wolf Spider, but it isn't!

I think this is Crowned Pisaurid Rothus purpurissatus, what do you think guys? The tuft of hair between the eyes is the giveaway!

Thanks BluTuna Think I'll move on to the Huntsman spiders, Family Sparassidae. Their eyes match up. Will edit the original post as well.

As far as Olios, that is definitely in my crosshairs, along w/ 2 other Genera, so I'll put it at the top of the list!

Rothus purpurissatus is the only Rothus reported from Gauteng

Gnaphosidae possibly Micaria sp.

Micaria sociabilis ( found in Europe and Russia - very similar looking)

I can't find a pic of these two to compare.

I really know nothing about spider IDs, just matched the colors up to pictures

Perhaps also look into family Corinnidae eg genus Castianeira

It's no bluff, BT, I amaze myself at some of my OBVIOUS blunders here

Example: Eyes don't match on my "Wolf Spider" I try hard, but I waffle between "winging it" (no pun), and excruciating attention to detail.

That's why I NEVER post entries without second opinions. But it's still lots of fun when you finally have an AHA!! moment.
