Yes, that is a good point, because they were not really necessary even if they are nicer.

These signs were not well-made, IMO.
Mostly, they do not fit nicely compared to the old ones that were properly-placed!

Signs are updated on a regular basis in the KNP to enhance the visitor experience and give guidance to destinations for guests. We have harsh weather conditions in the KNP and the signs do fade after some time. There is no tender advertised for these upgrades as they are carried out by our road maintenance department which is internal and falls under the Technical services.
SANParks does allocate maintenance and CAPEX budget for tourism facilities each year as per the needs of the management of these functions. Signs have always been upgraded since the establishment of the park and it is not a new phenomenon.
