Well...assuming 40 years' worth of stored horn from SanParks' side only...sold at the price of gold (In reality it will probably be half..)

Someone could do the calculations, but it would stop SP's whinging about lack of income, that's for sure! So no hotels required! ;-)

But, B,bap

We are sitting with hapless equationists, lacking a
a genuine argument to life and all!!!

Mostly a bunch that don't really know what they want!!

There was this "moonshine" but end off day turned to a
headache!!
Now what???

OK, so this could bring a premature end to the hotels, but it won't stop the poaching! Now which is more important?

I personally would rather see both rather than neither! ;-)

Sometimes it’s not until you don’t see what you want to see, that you truly open your eyes.

I guess that's the reasoning from SP...and somebody will certainly make a quick buck too...but what other solution is there!? -O-

Firstly don't sell stockpiled horn, it will exacerbate the poaching problem by increasing the demand
Secondly, drastic situations require drastic measures, ban all rhino hunting, that way any horn is an illegal horn and it takes away the ability of people benefitting from corruption through dodgy issuing of permits.
Thirdly, build that fence on the Moz border and patrol it extensively.
Fourthly, herd all existing rhino stock into smaller areas where they can be better guarded
Fifthly, introduce a shoot to kill policy in reserves
Sixthly, allow the death penalty to be awarded to all convicted poachers, traffickers and dealers.
Seventhly, once all of the above is in place, burn all horn stockpiles.

:-? Ja H =O:
At the moment poachers get horn for free and the middle man pays the poacher relatively little. By legalizing the sale of horn, why would the middle man be prepared to pay market prices when he gets it for next to nothing now. The sale of stockpiles won't stop or even cut down on poaching. We know the market is massive and we could never fulfill the demand, so all it would achieve would be to increase the demand with suppliers looking for the cheapest option....poaching. And when stockpiles are finished...more poaching to supply an increased demand. 0*\ 0*\

Rp what makes you believe that Sanparks will drop
the one for the other?? Hey brother there's big bucks
in both!!

So why would they not exploit both avenues consecutively???
