If I had not been to KTP, I would have gone immediately after reading your description. ;-) In KNP, the crowds have never been a problem for me, maybe because I always go in the summer when the school holidays have finished. I have had days without meeting more than a few cars far apart, lion sightings all to myself, waterhole watching with no other vehicle in sight, etc.

Squirrels O/\ O/\

Marvellous "exhibition" of the bee-eaters in very special attitudes ^Q^ ^Q^ and the secretary birds "out to dry" nonetheless!

Giraffes in knots lol

And a mention of Brewer's! O/\ lol

Never knew those bee-eaters were there in the desert... :o0ps: What behaviour pics!

And the juvenile naughtiness...

There were ostrich chicks galore this year! Seems every couple had little ones recently hatched. :-0

At KTC (HM tent) there were a number of Mantids, much to my delight. (Mostly Bark Mantids)

Sure! Depends on who is talking, the heart or the brain ;-)

I agree on the steenbokkie  not on the mantid. Interesting not cute  but "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" :-)

It's a pity there wasn't a Marabou stork around lol

Nice tawny/snake sequence \O

It's only semi-desert (arid savanna) and they are not all over the place ;-)
