Re: Best place to find Lion
Lion, being apex predators, are not confined by many factors regarding their distribution other than prey availability.
So less general game, less lion!
The whole Central District, and the area between Lower Sabie and Crocodile Bridge, have always been the best lion areas.
During dry spells, watercourses and drinking points are always a good bet!

Re: Best place to find Lion
Haven't been here lately, but there is one golden rule - first out of the gate...
We left Skukz first in Jan this year... en route to Malelane Gate on H3 near Kwaggaspan (which is almost a certainty seeing lions)...
And what waited for us in the road, you may ask?
(Number of photos will be an overkill, but hey, I thought you might enjoy them).
PS. Do I need to say that it was a coalition of males?
We spent quite some time with this coalition of six males. Behind the hill was another 'Big Brother' in the road. We had to move on, and as we passed, two of them decided to jump on the white elephant. I think they were caught by surprise by the white elephant, and retaliated!
One thing is for sure, I don't want to run into them on foot.

Re: Best place to find Lion
And then RIGHT at the Malelane Gate (which was new lion territory for us
A total of eight lions on our way out of Kruger! We were truly blessed!
We also saw lions on the H4-1 (Skukz to LS tar). Almost a given for seeing lions.

Great pics tannie Poppie
Based on my sightings:
The H7 is tops for lions! Between the two turn offs to the Rabaleis road, and Nsemani dam to the H1-3
H1-3, the 4km close to Satara has a lion sighting every day.
The H1-4. the 11km close to Satara
Basically, Satara is the best lion spotting camp
The BB updates have a lion sighting on the H4-1 every day

Re: Best place to find Lion
Perhaps one could divide the Park into its four regions for clearer advice on the best areas?
In my experience:
South: S-25 Croc River Road, especially the last 5 years or so. The whole tar road from Skukuza to Croc Bridge.
Central: Tar Road between Satara and Olifants river. And a radius of about 20km around Tshokwane.
Lower North up to Mopane: Olifants River loops, esp. Balule. Tar road passing Mopane/Tzendze area.
Far North: Entire Shingwedzi area to the West of the camp, including S-52 and up to Nkulumbeni.
