There was a convention or something on the go at Skukuza and a few km down the H11 a large convoy of unmarked black cars with tinted windows, around 8, and 3 marked police cars came flying up behind us. I was doing just under 50km/h, so continued on as if they didn’t exist, but 1st car was nearly touching my bakkie’s rear bumper which pissed me off because if I had to stop for a sighting, they would have definitely hit us. The next minute the entire convoy overtook me at pace and the 1 policewoman signalled to me that I must move, so I shouted out the window back at her.

“The speed limit is 50km/h!”

I accelerated quickly behind the last vehicle to see their speed and backed off at 80km/h, but they were still pulling away from me. I wanted to continue on through to Kruger Gate with the hope that we could arrive before they exited the park and demand action from Sanparks because the Cow had photographic evidence of all the vehicles, the speed, and the way they virtually pushed other cars off the road up ahead of us and just overtook irrespective of oncoming traffic, but the Cow eventually talked me out of it because it would possibly ruin our trip due to the immediate and long term drama it would cause, however this put a damper on our afternoon drive and I was very glad when the S1 turnoff appeared so that we could get off the H11.

In the dip/drainage line just past the S1/S65 intersection we found some lion relaxing and this changed the mood slightly.

The S4/S3 sections produced the normal crowd and we only took 1 more pic on the H11 as a hyena approached just outside camp.

I started the fire as soon as we arrived at our unit and we had a repeat of the previous evening with the porcupine, but this time there were 2 of them and the one looked like a junior.

Ja, gatherings are hundreds if one doesn't impose on others. It just takes 1 hadeda in the mix though :O^

We have had sand snakes at those EH2's before, it seems like a hot spot for them. :-?

Shot for checking this out X#X

That porcupine has been around that area for a few years now and it seems to follow the same/similar route almost every night \O

6th October Skukuza

Our plan this morning was the same as the previous morning because Albert wanted to check if by some chance the wild dogs with pups were back at the H1-2 low water bridge, so we were in the gate queue before 5:30am again.

Just before the western entrance to alpha loop on the H4-1 we intercepted some adult dogs and the one dumped in front of us before continuing down towards the H1-2 low water bridge with us following.

Something in the water on the H4-1 side of the low water bridge seemed to upset the dogs and they were very nervous, but they soon calmed down, ran along the bridge and hopped off the bridge midway in the same area as the previous day, so we continued to follow along and soon heard the pups shrieking for chow again.

This was a repeat of the regurgitation story from the previous day and some pups seemed to score more than others.
