Roads and gates reports - Friday 24 February
We are in the stage of the “calm before the storm” ( Update, it looks like SA and Kruger will not be affected by Freddy- great news as that means no further destruction is expected) - so we thought we would give you a summary of the situation as we understand it as at 8:00 on Friday 24 February 2023.
- [ ] All main camps are open
- [ ] All gates are open
- [ ] Biyamiti is closed until at least 27 February
- [ ] The low level Bridge at Lower Sabie is open with access to the H10.
- [ ] The low level Bridge over the Sabie river (opposite the train) is open. Airport access is available from this side.
- [ ] The low level Bridge over the Sand river (H1-2) remains closed, therefore access from Skukuza to Satara is via the high level bridge only.
- [ ] The H4-1 is only accessible from Skukuza to Nkulu picnic site - there is no access from Nkulu to Lower Sabie. Access from Lower Sabie to Skukuza is via the H10 and then returning to Skukuza on the H1-2, H12 over the high level bridge.
- [ ] Many of the gravel roads in the southern section of the Park are still closed. We have seen anecdotal reports that the s28, s130 and s137 from Crocodile Bridge to Lower Sabie are open.
- [ ] Some other gravel roads throughout the central and northern part of the Park are closed. Please adhere to road closures as vehicles have become stuck when ignoring closures. Driving on water logged roads also can cause damage to these roads which will delay their official opening.
This is a developing situation - so we will update this post as further updates are received.

SANParks is quick when it comes to re-open the roads If they weren't they would lose paying visitors

Kruger Flood Update
February 28 2023: 09:15 SAST
Please note that Talamati Bush Camp will remain closed today 28 February. The access road S140 is damaged and heavy machinery can't access to repair due to excessive wet conditions. More rain is expected today.
Sand river bridge remains closed. Sabie low level bridge is accessible for guest use.
Please also note that all gravel roads around Pafuri remain closed with the persistent rains experienced over the last couple of days.
A friendly reminder for guests to please NOT remove barricades on closed roads.
