I think that it is a sabota lark.

The dwarf mongooses are really cute ^Q^

Tawny eagles come in all kinds of brownish/beige colours. This one looks very lofty ;-)

A waterbuck shouldn't care about water neither from above nor from below lol

More birds were finally willing to pose such as European rollers,

Image

another brown snake eagle

Image

and a highlight was then already in the sunlight – same obviously chased the clouds away – a group of 7 ground hornbills

Image

in fact on the ground who wandered as cool as ice

Image

closer to us and in fact they were not in a hurry and took it slow. Needless to say that it looked extreme funny

Image

whilst coming closer and closer and luckily presently no other car arrived as most likely same would have chased them away and we let them come closer to us

Image

but far too soon for our liking one after the other decided to take off

Image

and finally all of them landed in a nearby tree where they were not that good visible.

Image

Around the next corner in a more open area we noticed a lot of Carmine bee eaters who nearly had occupied all branches and when they left same they most likely landed again on that branch

Image

so we often had something to be seen and photographed and it took nearly ages until we could carry on

Image

as also a glossy starling was around

Image

and for sure Timon could not be dragged away from the masses of different carmine bee eaters.

Image

Image

Besides the birds we already saw the road was more or less quiet but as also not many cars were driving on same we enjoyed the drive nevertheless. I suppose in the middle of that road there is a larger pond and also this year same was quite good filled and the weavers were busy in again building nests

Image

and we spend quite a while watching them as no other water birds nor any other animals could be seen.

After a while at that pond we carried on and stopped for another birdie

Image

and then we experienced a road block in form of a giraffe

Image

who was not willing to clear the road.

Image

After a while another one joined the one of the road

Image

Image

and at the surrounding acacia bushes lots of them were feeding and luckily all of the were willing to pose

Image

for a couple of close ups. Also here we stayed a while before we left them.

Image

Image

We also detected another brown snake eagle, a couple of redbilled hornbills

Image

and also had to stop for some yellow flowers along the roadside.

Image

Image

Unfortunately all the caueways along that road were empty or only few water left so nothing around here and we drove quite a while without seeing anything and on top the sun was again sizzling from above and it got again hotter and hotter at least this steenbokkie was not that shy

Image

and checked out a pile of poo

Image

before same slowly walked to the other side of the road and again back but we could capture same without hiding in the grass.

Image

Image

to be continued……………
