Crested Francolins can roost and perch in trees and on mirrors, which other "Francolins" can't. This makes it a distinct bird, not being a true francolin and not a true spurfowl.

Doesn't the Cape Francolin do that too?

Would love to be sitting at that waterhole right now! :-0
 Already seems long ago .
Lisbeth wrote: Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:54 am Interaction with the birds ^Q^ ^Q^

Not a bad place to sit for a while. Normally there are lots of waterbirds too, but then I have only been there in summer ;-)
 If we were staying at Pretorius I would have stayed longer \O
Richprins wrote: Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:31 am Ja, I told you it is great to sit at a waterhole this time of year, Rog!

How unheard of for ostrich to be at Shitlhave!

Those francolin give one a terrible fright when they jump onto the mirror like that!
-O- about the Ostrich we seem to have a knack to find the unusual sometimes :-) Waterhole watching does seem to be a good ..0.. in winter.

We traveled off on the H1 and just before the H3 turn we saw a few parked cars by the mini boulders .

There it was a flat spotted cat with not a care in the world .

After a while it decided it was time to wake up ...
Image

It had some stretches' and a full roll onto its back
Image

It decided to check out the traffic
Image

and exited stage left to somewhere behind the boulders

We left and carried on to Afsaal ....
