30th Lower Sabie
As we were in the EH huts at Lower Sabie there’s no cooking facilities and one can’t braai for breakfast, well I could, but most, including my clan, wouldn’t be that keen. We have also found that the picnic sites down south in holiday season are more like a city centre (besides those on the S36) so the plan this morning was again the golf club, but we packed some rolls and the intention was to order takeaway hot chips at the club and then to sit at one of the tables in the nursery and have a picnic hot chip roll breakfast which isn’t very healthy, however it’s easy, cheap and peaceful.
We decided this morning to take a slightly different route to the club via the S21/S114/H1-1/H11 and then to return to Lower Sabie later in the day via the H4-1.
We stopped briefly at Sunset dam for the locals but the first pics of the morning only started opposite Lubyelubye as a lioness was walking down the middle of the road towards us.

The lioness seemed to be searching for the rest of the pride as she cruised down onto the rocks and started calling and then after 2 minutes and no response she returned to the road and continued calling before crossing and disappearing deeper into the bush.

The S21 can be a long boring road at times and today was one of those days so we only stopped for pics of a giraffe, a dikkop, which are always around on this road and lastly a few klippies.

As we arrived at Renosterkoppies a gang of OSV’s came into view so we knew something was on the go, but I expected more than a single male lion rolling around in the distance, however while there we overheard the OSV’s guys communicating and there was a mention of 3 more male lion just 2km down the S114, so I quickly started up and ducked off down the road before the major gang.
