Thank you Mel, Rich, Fluts and Lisbeth.
I think the actual nest is fairly shallow. And yes, it is sitting on the eggs in that picture. For once, male and female share these duties.

Re: Garden Bird Pictures
Right now I am looking at a lovely red robin on the balcony. One of these days, I'll try to get a pic

Re: Garden Bird Pictures
Thank you so much, but I want my own bird, even if through the window. They are so shy

Yours are very shy Lis. The ones we get here are extremely tame.
Continental Robins are shy forest dwellers. Ours have learnt to come into gardens for free feeds.
When we get an influx of Robins from the continent, they are always shy & secretive.

Re: Garden Bird Pictures
Strange. There are most likely also much fewer here. They are not so common, at least not where I live.

Re: Garden Bird Pictures
Interesting indeed! And it explains why the robin I saw up in the Scottish Highlands didn't fly off but patiently waited to be photographed.

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.
