26th August 2015 - Day 5: Skukuza
Before Roxy and Kelly left we took our family photo, it had been great to have all the family together for a few days.
Roxy and Kelly will be joining us again in 2016
We drove down to S130 turn off where we said our goodbye and turned off to do the S137 & S28 loop while Roxy and Kelly headed down to Croc Bridge.
This dirty Hyena was lying at the S28 & H4-2 intersection
Then a last stop on the Lower Sabie bridge for a pic of Keartland and we were off to Skukuza along the H4-1.
Along the way up the H4-1 we came across these guys trying to find shade.
Teagan adding our sightings to the board at Skukuza, we had arrived at 13h00, so tried our luck at getting an early book-in, but no luck – “Come back at 14h00” was as far as we got.
We had booked the FU4V unit, so we settled down to wait in from of the units.
There were Ellies on the river bank across the Sabie River
And Fish Eagles on the old train bridge
The Ellies came down to the river for a drink, these FU4V units are also great units on the fence line to view game.
After booking in we relaxed until 16h00 before going on the evening drive.
We had our first sighting of a male Lion doing a river crossing, he did not like the water and after walking slowly up to the water’s edge, he sprinted through the water creating a huge splash.
And a last shot of the day, one of the Nkuhlu mothers.
