Interessante een wat julle hier beet het. Mens kan slegs spekuleer. My raai is dat dit n geval van brandsiekte was wat “somehow” herstel het, maar die pigment van daardie area aangetas het. Jy weet seker dat brandsiekte tipies aan die begin rondom die kop voorkom, soos in die foto. Dit word aangesteek deur kopstampery tydens bakleiery. Daarvandaan sprei dit gewoonlik na die res van die nek en lyf. Dit kom baiemaal voor tesame met vratte. Omdat brandsiekte, vanwee sy voorkoms in die vel, ook nou gekoppel is met die immuunsisteem van die die dier, kan die dier die siekte afskud. Dieselfde geld vir vratte. Die parasiet, of virus (lg in die geval van vratte), isoleer hulleself in die vel teen die liggaam se verdedigingsmeganismes, maar somtyds kom hulle wel in aanraking daarmee deur bv n besering van die area en as die liggaam se immuunstelsel skerp is, kan die liggaam homself genees, maar met verlies van pigment.


Basically, he speculates that it may be mange that has healed somehow, and affected the pigmentation of the skin! :-)

The pair continue to fight, the winner having breeding rights over the ewes.

The victor then approaches a female and performs a behaviour called laufschlag, where the male touches the females undersides with a stiff foreleg. This behaviour is also called the mating kick or foreleg kick.

I was able to watch something very similar once at Urikaruus... and found that "thing" looked quite scary 0:
No wonder the female I watched didn't accept the "invitation" lol

Great sequence - and definitely VERY interesting to watch. ^Q^
