Sigma 150-500mm Lens
Re: Sigma 150-500mm Lens
My understanding is limited harrys, but I don’t think the Tamron 150-600mm will function properly on your 450D. I believe there are also problems on the 550D. (Hunting for focus as per BT)
Re: Sigma 150-500mm Lens
I just had a quick search of the interweb and I could find nothing about camera compatibilities and the Tamron 150-600 so I assume it will work with your 450D. The focus hunting problem I had with my D5100 only happened occasionally and wasn't a big problem. As I said, it doesn't happen on the D7200.
As a precaution I suggest that you go to a good camera dealer with your 450D (my personal favourite is Kameraz in Rosebank, good prices and outstanding service) and try it out before you buy it.

Re: Sigma 150-500mm Lens
The only compatability issue I am aware of with the Tamron is with Nikon cameras older than the generation before the lens and with the less-than-top-of-the-line focus system.
Like the D5200 anad also the D7000.
But I don't know Canon.

Actually BT afaik the 50-500 OS model is newer than the 150-500 and is still in Sigma's current lens line up. Image quality is generally considered at least on par with the 150-500 and it has the benefit of being a very versatile lens (50-500 is very useful for wildlife). It is however more expensive than the 150-600 contemporary model although cheaper than the 150-600 sport model.BluTuna wrote:Even more obsolete. It's been discontinued and is probably not as good as the 150-500. I looked at one when I got my D5000 in 2009 and there was some problem with the lens/camera interface so I got the 150-500.
I loved the older non OS 50-500 model which I used for some time until replacing with the Canon EF 100-400 which I prefer but mainly because it weighs less.

Thanks for the update mikef, I wasn't aware that there was a new 50-150
