We stayed for three nights and that was OK as we had some great company in the form of Super Mongoose & Skillie! I would suggest at least two nights as a minimum but it depends on how worried you are about seeing anything other the the scenery and birds.

From what I read, there is quite a choice of mammals there as well, so three days seems good (or maybe even a couple more) if you want to enhance your chances to get lucky.

Oh, yes, there are mammals there, some can be seen at the waterhole near the campsite.The main part of the reserve is at the other end of the tunnel under the road. That's where the Big-5 are but the bush is so thick that they can't be seen unless they are standing in the road!

I was thinking more in the lines of caracal, brownie and aardwolf

How big was the stick insect? You know they are the longest insects in the world?

I'm sure they are there too but good luck seeing them. We glimpsed a couple of Jackals at the waterhole but they were the only predators we saw.

Yeah, it sounds like you are sorry $0*\$

The stick insect was only a small one, maybe 8-10cms - I have seen one of those huge 30cm monsters in Kruger, a truly impressive insect. I think my picture is in the Info Book!
