Usually the adult male has a purple throat, the juvenile may have a darker blackish throat, but you found one with yellowish throat  Amazing how they change colours and appear in different shades lol
OK, the book I used to ID the sunbird was an old one :O^ . The colour changes are due to thin film interference which is what makes a Glossy Starling glow iridescent blue. Their feathers are actually brown but they have a coating that refracts the light as it passes through it, then refracts the light again as it reflects off the feather underneath and passes back through the coating again. A similar effect can be seen with a thin film of oil or soap floating on water.

Back at camp after some much needed food and a siesta I tracked down one of our noisy neighbours; a Cicada of some sort which is known locally as a Christmas Bee.

By the time we went for our afternoon drive, the clouds had rolled in and there wasn't much to photograph.

At the Mankwe Dam hide, a White Breasted Cormorant.

And there was something on the far side of the dam. What could it be????

By this time it was starting to get late so we hot-footed it back to camp.
