A must do when staying at Bateleur camp is visit Rooibosrant Dam at Sunset. We packed the van with food and drink and headed down there for a look-see.

White-faced Ducks were flying around in a pre-roost flock.

And an African Fish-eagle was looking for Barbel at the Hippo's behind's.

Spot the Collared Pratincole in this pic. below.

Cormorants roosted in the dead trees as the sun set in a perfect scene.

Image

The White-faced Ducks obliged with another fly past.

Image

A Malachite Kingfisher looked out for a late supper.

Image

Whilst Wire-tailed Swallows hawked late flying insects out over the water.

Image

We sat there taking in the spectacle and watched in awe as the sun crept lower and lower in the sky.

Thanks for your comments Lisbeth, Aat, Bushcraft, Pooky & Flutterby. X#X X#X

Lis - Romantic? Pah, not me, never, no ways. ;-) O0

Aat - The scene was like a painting. Great to watch it develop as well. O/\

BC - Best spot in the park to watch a sunset I think, but then again, being anywhere in the park at sunset is a bonus. \O

Pooky - I thought that fight would never end. lol We always try to stop and watch Baboons when in the park. O/\

Flutt's - Hope to see some of your pics from your recent trip. O/\
