Re: Insect or Invertebrates Identification
As for this one:
https://africawild-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... 10#p184710
I got a little more info. from a Diptera.info expert - "It is a Miltogramminae and one of the genera in the tribe Phyllotelini, either Phylloteles, Dolichotachina or Lamprometopia. It is a female and the head profile is not fully visible, so difficult to get any close than this."
Will edit the post to reflect the minor affirmations....tomorrow, as SO is HUNGRY. (The way to a man's heart....

Do you have more photos, to show the elytra?
Female Oryctes boas
Female Oryctes boas

Re: Insect or Invertebrates Identification
I've searched, but no, only a frontal shot. From all the images of Oryctes boas I've seen, that species seems to have a rather pronounced concave depression of the front of the thorax
I looked for keys to IDing SA dung beetles, but came up empty handed. My questions I was hoping to answer relative to an ID Key were concerning # of "claws/front leg spikes", which genera have punctate thorax, which are "hairy" as this one seems to be more so than most I've seen, and the
angle of the head/thorax connection, as this one is upward curved, not straight or downward (v or u)
I realize I'm clear as mud here, but the pic will show what I mean
Also, the front of the face must be characteristic with its curves
Okay, I'll keep searching, or just move on to other things that bug me
