The following morning we drove straight to where the Zebra carcass had been the day before ...

We found the Zeebra looked remarkably like a Lioness now
Image

There were Hyenas about but they were not going to come close .

Image

Further in the bushes a Male Lion lay with a belly the size of a small Zebra
Image

A small chunk of meat lay in the bushes to the side of him
Image

It was obvious they were not going to go anywhere for quite some time .

We decided to leave them and go Drive the S106 as there had been a sighting of Wild Dogs there the day before . As we turned onto the dirt we found a few cars and a road block of note .
Image

As more cars and OSVs arrived they were getting more restless
Image

We found the Male in the grass on the side of the road
Image

We eventually decided to move on passed them as they seemed to be ok with other cars passing them and allow other cars to get a view
Image

A bit further we found these Grey hornbills
Image

Image

We carried on with the Drive along the sand road towards Satara .

To make a whole zebra disappear during one night is quite something

Nice grey hornbill \O

The park does not seem to be short of lions ;-)

A bit further along the road we found some shrooms ;-)

Image

We checked on the nest on the way passed
Image

We found a Wahlberg eagle -O-

Image

Some flowers for SO
Image

and a roller with a bug for breakfast
Image

We did not see much more on the way to or from Satara there was a Giraffe carcass in some long grass with a few Hyena around .It was difficult to see anything as it was in some long grass and the smell let us know it was definitely not a recent kill.

Image

After the stop at Satara the idea was to go back possibly via Timbavati Picnic spot but on the way there we were told there was some other Lions on the S36 before Muzandzeni close to the waterhole so we decided what the hell it was a Lion day and headed off that way . We arrived at the place and spent some time searching trying to find them there was no other cars around and they had half graded the road so it made turning around quite a challenge in the bus .There he is said SO
Image

He was yawning and rolling around but not going anywhere .We spent some time alone with him and started to drive off when suddenly another Lion popped out the grass
Image

And then collapsed back into the grass again.
Image

It started to rain and the Lions decided to go so they disappeared into the thick bushes .

We found some cute suckling Hyenas on the roadside
Image

We went back to camp to do Lunch .
