We had great fun in watching them especially the youngsters

One of the best we ever had although must say each day in the park is special

Luckily these oxpecker occur on nearly each animal so there are always a lot to take pictures from

The area is panoramic indeed, with or without elephant bull.

That is about Kruger as well - All the different landscapes as each is beautiful

Brilliant baboon and monkey studies, Pumbaa!

The kudu and red bushwillow backgrounds are also colourful.

The red bushwillow is indeed a beautiful bush and even very photogenic

Saturday, 08. February 2020 – Berg en Dal – Crocodile Bridge

Roads we strolled along: S110 – S120 – H3 – S118 – S119 – S25 – S27 – H4-2

The first night in the park is always sigh – After the obligatory brewing hot coffee we packed everything together and carried on into the direction of Matjulu. It was such a beautiful and misty morning that we simply had to captured same.



A lot of zebras could already be seen but our lions from yesterday had left the waterhole and were nowhere to be seen



but giraffes were around and were already busy with their favourite activity – feeding!



It was relatively quiet at Matjulu so we did not stay long and continued into the direction of Steilberg this morning as on this road the birding is normally quite good and so it was today. We came across a zebra head so lovingly called the yellow breasted bunting by us and same even looked extreme wet



and the views on that road are also not half bad.



It was again such a wonderful morning with the upcoming sun illuminating everything so brilliantly and the birding was in fact wonderful as well – Zorro was willing to pose and this year a large number of these birds could be seen nearly everywhere in the park.



Then Timon stopped again as he heard significantly noises of brown headed parrots and I already said that he developed a talent in relating the noise of a bird to the right bird.



For sure same was not alone and we were happy to already spot these birds at such an early stage of our trip



and from exactly this point we even discovered a Wahlberg’s eagle on a nest



followed by a tawny eagle,



a pin tailed whydah,



a Namaqua dove

not to forget the plum-coloured starling



and even two woodland kingfishers sharing a branch.



We were happy to see that many different birdies as the other animals kept still hidden at that early hours and also the Mlambane loop was extreme quiet but the baboons were already up



and the terrapins at the causeway at the S114 / S118 crossing hurried into our direction.



For sure impalas were also up



and we simply enjoyed their presence.



At lot of them were around and nearly all of them



decided to cross the road in front of us and allowed also some close ups.



“Our” leopard tree from yesterday was deserted – we expected nothing else – but the hope is last to die so we were happy to spot a steenbokkie who did not run away immediately.



Next stop was then at Gardenia hide which was compared to the rest of the park at least from what we saw so far not that full but we saw same already with fewer water and at the beginning it was a bit quiet but we soon discovered many very well camouflaged water dikkops



and a family of Egyptian goose.

Yes, there were loads of red-backed shrikes in the park this year. Never seen so many Last year was a roller year
