31 October - Urikaruus and Out
This morning we had to leave at gate opening time since our flight left Upington at 12.50 pm and it takes about 3 hours to get there from the park. So we planned to leave Twee Rivieren by 8.30 am the latest which gave us 2.5 hours to drive the approximately 70 kays from Uri - not that much, really.
We were well on time, car packed and ready to go when the spotted hyenas showed up in the parking area and the slip road. Our car doors were wide open and basically an invitation for the hyenas to explore what was in it.

Of course we didn't dare to leave the safety of the gangway between the units but Eric told us it would be alright. So Spots darted to the car which set the hyenas in motion too. Luckily, not in our direction.
Once I was able to gather my camera - which had already been in the car - I was finally able to take some photos.
The hyenas made it to the waterhole for another drink and since the sun finally came up and the light got better, I had to take some more photos.
They then wandered off in direction of their den at Kamqua.
It was actually five of them but I didn't managed to get them all in one frame...
