Ouch, those roads look a bit rough! Although the gravel road actually looks better than the tar road... Corrugations on the first?
Reminds me a bit of the dune roads in the Kgalagadi
Nice pic of the waders and the close up of the blacksmith

so many km of roads through SA... not easy to have all in the best condition
agree with Mel, nice pictures of the waders... with reflections and again the grass in the sun

Quite right Mel. Most of the tar roads are in a worse condition than the gravel ones.Mel wrote:Ouch, those roads look a bit rough! Although the gravel road actually looks better than the tar road... Corrugations on the first?

Quite a few corrugations mainly on bends.
Thank you for the compliments and love your comment on the bear/dog.
The autumn colours were amazing and the roads were frightening.Lisbeth wrote:Nice autumn colours and bad roads. Nice dam at the farm

04 MAY 2015 - DAY 19 - RAPTOR RIDGE TO VENTERSBURG - ONS KUIERHUIS - PART 3/4
A few photos taken while walking around the farm in the late afternoon.
I tried to get a bit arty with this photo.
This was our cottage on the farm.........
........and it had its own indoor swimming pool.
Please help with an ID for this little fellow.
Coming up next - our final few photos of this amazing road trip.

Having slow bites of pudding, as it's almost over...
The dynamiting of the first higher railway bridge by the Burgher Forces of Gen. De Villiers, was largely ineffective as the British forces merely had to hoist the blown out sections back into place, pop in a few new bolts and the railway was once again operational in fairly short order.

I wish we had had time to go into the bowels of Gariep Dam. I have also heard from other sources that it is amazing.
