The 2 cubs at Dalkeith waterhole were always good value and relatively easy to find as they didnt move far ..This particular morning ..Mother was lying far up the road and the 2 cubs were on their way to drink ..so I quickly parked at the waters edge and waited ..They arrived and drank together before the sun peeked over the adjacent high dune ..Mother called and the obedient one left right away ..This is the one who decided to have another minute drinking and then realised he was on his own and had to run the gauntlet..I sat still as he crept forward and took this pic mirror up so as not to alarm the little guy with a noisy shutter

You're quite lucky with the lions :-0

..Not really ..in April 2017 we stayed 14 days at Rooiputs and 11 at Mata Mata ..Rooiputs you just drive down the hill to the waterhole and if there are no lions 1 km north and south ..you are having a bad day. ..At Mata Mata you just leave camp and travel on the only road to Craig Lockhart/Dalkeith/13th Borehole and again you should get lion early in the morning :-) :-)

Oh, if that's the criteria, most of our trips were lion unlucky lol
