My beloved Pilanesberg....
Truly worrying news that Pilanesberg National Park had a devastating fire last night and throughout today.
It seems the fire started on the outside of the Park in the North and continued throughout most of the Wilderness area and continued South towards the Centre of the Park and is currently continuing to Kwa Maritane Lodge.
Mankwe Hide has burned down completely.
It is really horrifying...
Our thanks, thoughts and prayers go with the staff on the ground that are trying their best to control the fire
Our thoughts also go out to the animals at this very distressing time.

Re: Pilanesberg Fires
Shocking to see.
I recall that last time there was a big fire, lots of elephants were hurt. Because the area of the reserve is relatively small, they got trapped between the fire and the fence, and got badly burnt.
