So here is another example of shooting into the light - early morning light.
I was at Kirstenbosch with two fellow members from the camera club when I overheard one of them saying "look at the beautiful protea, pity it is straight into the light"
I told them that "bad light" is not an excuse to not take a photo - one just needs to think about it differently.
To demonstrate - I bent lower down to take photo from a lower angle looking up more into the "bad light" and clicked away. I was in manual mode and I over exposed. :) I have added a vignette in post process to emphasise the dreamy soft look of the photo.
There really is no such thing as bad light...just get creative. :)

adding a vignette is either lightening, blurring or darkening the corners....

From google.......In photography and optics, vignetting (/vɪnˈjɛtɪŋ/; French: "vignette") is a reduction of an image's brightness or saturation toward the periphery compared to the image center.

Your "artichoke" protea is beautiful. Looks like something out of a pastel coloured dream ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ Could be a Monet in his early years ;-)
