Hi All 0/*

So to start the Trip report we step back a few weeks .Been a tough year and finally managed to scrape enough funds to plan a camping trip to KNP in January .As it was too late to get a full stay we managed to convince my Sister and Brother in Law to let us use their Marlothpark home for a week prior to getting our spot in Malelane camping . Plans were afoot and happiness abounds untill coming back from a trip to the shops my son says why is there smoke coming out the air vent on the Landy ....

Quickly pulled over and popped the bonnet and Me-gads we have struck oil its a real gusher ....

And the landy came home on the back of a truck.

So now it looks like there will not be the holiday and so began the saving Landy privately additions to the 4x4 thread ... viewtopic.php?f=220&t=1768&hilit=4x4&start=950

After stripping it down we find the Oil cooler has popped .

Now to fix the best is to do it properly and pull off the head and skim and reassemble .Could it possibly be done in time to get away in 3 and half weeks ...

Hi Roger,

Sounds like serious problems - but you will not have started this trip report if things didn't come together.

Waiting for some more,

Not a good way to start and hope you got the landy rolling soon. \O Last year we also had mishaps with the power cutting out before Malelane. Looks like we need to avoid that area or move closer. ;-)

Thanx for joining to push this bus along O** lol

After rebuilding the engine ,robbing the bank and selling some body parts ,we managed to get it turning over again but it kept on getting oil into the water after 2-3 days of use and flushing .We were hoping to get to Kruger on the 27th but relised there was still a problem with the new oil cooler .We finally made the decision on the 25 that we would need to buy a new replacement for the new replacement oil cooler .We would have to leave three days late and it would literally be a case of rebuild one day and drive to kruger the next ... :-? 0- Not just to drive but towing the Van as well ..

We packed the Landy early morning 30th January hitched the van and pulled off .As the youngest rugrat did not have the right unabridged birth certificate (we found out while sorting out her ID book) we had to go round Swaziland this time and I decided to attempt the N11 route as the roadworks should be completed .

The trip turned out to be rather uneventful the Landy was checked every few hours and performed faultlessly .We did pickup an issue with one of the tyres around ermelo that we though was caused by over-inflation but it later turned out that the tyre was de-laminating most likely due to old age ...

We made it to Marloth by about 2:30 and after managing to find our travel companions that had gone through Swazi and could not find the right entrance for Marloth we got unpacked and went for our first drive

We took our first drive around Marloth Park but in our haste to get out did not take the camera with O**

The following morning we left late after changing our tyre for the spare . We entered at Crocodile Bridge and turned down the S25

Our first sightings in the scorching heat an ele seeking shade :

Some Giraffes were also seeking and eating their shade .
