On the sixth and seventh days before Christmas*

We spent the nights of 18 and 19 December at Bakgatla. First time there. Not bad accommodation in the chalets except we had no water - only had water for a few minutes each day. With a child of four and a baby of 11 months this made things rather difficult.

No story to tell just some photos.

Number one could be a Steppe buzzard and number two maybe a yellow-billed kite -O-

Another few pics.

Action at Marokwane Dam. This crocodile was trying to herd some barbel into shallow puddle.

Unfortunately he was unsuccessful.

This could be either the Jacobins or Levaillants Cuckoo.

I wonder what caused this on the above giraffe natural or predator.

Hey, stf!

Have got a response from Dr Joubert, and have taken the liberty of copying this pic to "Interesting and Unusual Behaviour", if that's ok?

That was my first thought as well. But the tail looks all wrong for the kite. Could be just the posture however.
For the third one, I'm inclined to say it's a juvenile jackal buzzard.

As for the pix: You can post as many as you like on one page. But just split them up in several posts. Say you want
to post 20 photos, make it 4 or 5 posts. Even if there are many photos on one page, it's still much easier to open
it with several posts as if the 20 were in only one. \O

^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ you had some great sightings there, stf

But your grey hornbill is a hadeda ibis - Tokos don't do nests 0=

I was thinking of a Jackal Buzzard too, for the third birds... ;-)
and for the others ... I don't know... but it seems to me, not a Kite -O-
