Rooikop Water hole:

Location:

This water hole is the first water hole you will pass, after Nossob water hole, on your way south to Maries draai from Nossob camp. It will take you less than 10 minutes to reach this spot and a good option if it is too difficult to decide to go north or south.

Apparently there is a brown hyaena den close-by ( spotted during 2011), but we did not have any luck with this predator. Our best sightings were lions on most of our visits and once off a leopard.

The water hole is surrounded by camel thorn trees and in the summer months you will find natural pools near the man made water hole. The borehole is 92 m deep and pleasant to drink. \O

GPS coordinates:
S25deg 27'4.8" and E20deg 36'54.3"

Will it be possible that we can get a pic of the same lion at Rooikop by two unrelated Wildies? :-? These naughtly boys were spotted in 2011 at Rooikop. ;-)

PRWIN, BJ & Moshi told us that there was a Martial on top of a bush just down the road from Rooikop as we headed towards Maries.

At Maries a group of Kudu came over for a drink, watched by a Jackal.
