SO birthday dash Feb 2022

Post by RogerFraser »

With SO birthday in Feb I decided the best place to spend it was Kruger . I managed to find some place on specials and got a night at Pretorius ,Two at Tamboti and two at Malelane .It was the first time in a long time we were deliberately going on a holiday trip rather than a work trip with benefits .

As it was SO birthday trip the rugrats chipped in for a Night drive our first night in Pretorius .Something we have not done for a while . On the night drive I met a fellow web developer lol
Image

This youngster was looking for the rest of the clan
Image

And then we found this young catout on the hunt for some action .
Image

And these two owls waiting for supper to run by
Image

Image

The ellies were not happy about the intrusion
Image

and our final sighting on the way back to camp was the same youngster still on the hunt

The following morning we packed the car to head off to Tamboti tented camp and we met this fellow on the road.

Our first Leopard of the day

This old ellie was browsing so we had to wait for him to leave the road

And we stumbled onto another Gymnogene that was more allert

and also sharing the same tree this snake eagle out looking for something to move in the bushes

A Pied Kingfisher on a bridge

And a Woody nearby

and a waxbill posed for us

We stopped in at Tshokwane and then carried on towards Satara.

Your "Gymnogene" looks a lot like a dark chanting goshawk ;-) And the snake eagle is not a snake eagle O**

Whatever they are, they are lovely birds \O \O
