Re: Table for One - my first solo safari
Imagine you on the ground taking macro pictures and then the lion on his knees next to you wondering what you are seeing
Next trip to the bush??

Great spread of pics, Ex!
Also love the butterfly shot!
As Alf says, lion may become curious if you start crawling around...must try it someday!

Sis: "Chicken! afraid of a sleeping lion"
Flutts: "You managed to get a flutterby with the lioness!" Pure skill, no coincidence at all.
Alf: "Imagine you on the ground taking macro pictures and then the lion on his knees next to you wondering what you are seeing" I guess the hot breath on the back of my neck might give him away.
Pumbaa, RP, nan - thanks! Do you want a kiss , flowers , or a beer ?? I think I know the answer...

Next camp - Mata Mata
The drive up produced 2 wonderful sightings within 20 minutes of each other. At the Vertiende loop, searching around clumps of trees/bushes for small prey, was Itumeleng.
Then, about 2 kms before the S entrance to Dalkeith, under a far tree clump was Masego. She emerged, walked down the road to the riverbed side, and continued looking under bushes/fallen branches, etc, (same behavior as Itumeleng.)
I also watched a pair of secretary birds collecting nesting material and flying up into their chosen tree for some nursery building. Was quite far off, but still interesting to watch them work together in the construction process.
(I didn't know they incorporated clumps of clay/dirt into their nests. )
I spent the evening sitting on the wonderful patio watching a couple of meerkat youngsters playing right below my chalet. They were trying to behave when mom was around, but quickly reverted to their sibling rivalry playfulness when she left them alone.
