We arrived at Tshokwane and were about to head for the loos when someone told us about wild dogs just up the road! :-0 So we jumped back into the car and went to have a look-see. They were in the river bed not even 1km from Tshokwane! O:V They were having a ball - running, jumping and playing like puppies! O\/ It wasn't easy to get pics as they kept disappearing into the reeds but the Brat managed to get some shaky video. ;-)

They eventually started to settle down and we managed to get a clearer view of them.

Tired out by their antics they flopped down in the shade and went to sleep. We counted 13. :-0

A two-tone rhino. ;-)

We left the dogs to sleep and returned to Tshokwane. There we started chatting to a guy who had come down from N'wanetsi and told us that the S35 Lindanda Road was full of game and he'd also seen 2 lions there. We hadn't done this road in ages, so decided to give it a try, and there was plenty of game - impala, steenbok, wildebeest, kudu, warthogs, baboons, zebras and ellies!

A first for us in Kruger - Temminck's Courser. O:V

We looked for the lions where the guy had seen them, but they had obviously moved off. We turned onto the S37 to head back to the tar when my dad suddenly stopped. Right next to the road was a puddle of water and a lion having a drink! O/\ We have never seen lions drinking before and it was even on the Brat's wishlist so we were very happy!

Finished with his drink he came towards us to join his brother lying in the shade of a tree right next to us, and we were the only car there! :-)

While sitting with the lions, the guy who had told us about them arrived and we started chatting again. He told us that his daughter and son-in-law are the N'wanetsi region section rangers, so he spends a lot of time in the park visiting them...lucky guy! :-0 We soon went our separate ways, with my dad convinced that he knew this guy but not sure from where. -O-

He looked healthy enough and they had apparently been on a buff kill the day before, so maybe it's just the pics. -O-
