We are going to KTP end of July but I am having second thoughts now if the temp is -1 and -6 O-/

What was the daytime temperature like? Hope you have time to thaw out :-)

Lovely pearl spotted owl and so glad you found Dakota ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

Hope we get to see him again :-)
Hi Sharifa, Welcome!

We went in July 10 years ago and it was COLD at night but really nice during the day, it was warm enough to wear shorts but when the Sun went down, the temperature went with it. Make sure you have plenty of warm clothes to wear and some nice warm bedding.

Marbles are all accounted for, well, mostly.

He was 9 months old and hand reared at Jo'burg zoo. My SO met his keeper at a conference and we got invited to accompany him on his daily walk around the zoo. A fantastic experience, he was a bit like a boisterous puppy and twice as cute, when he was chewing on my leg he was just playing - I had bruises to prove it.

Here's another pic of him with my SO.

Don't they smell? I read somewhere that HBs keep changing their dwellings
because they reek so that predators are attracted to it and to avoid
being caught the HBs keep moving. -O-

I don't know about wild HBs but this youngster didn't smell bad.

They are Mustelids which means they have an anal gland which produces a strong smelling substance but I believe that this is used for scent marking.

Not too sure about that, I haven't been able to find any reference that they squirt the stuff like skunks.
