Does it really help reducing the poaching?
Or will it create a longing for more?

Mel, I agree with you 100%. There is absolutely no way that even the vast stock piles will satisfy the greed for horn, the populations of the far east countries are in the billions of people. I am convinced it will introduce others to rhino horn and the demand will escalate.
I would imagine SanPark's stock pile is pretty big and of course Mabunda would love to turn that into cash, after all that's what is driving everything to do with our national parks. Once it's converted to cash, many sticky fingers could benefit.

Man was placed in charge and given the duty of caring for all creation, are we doing it?

Are they going to pin a rate per kilo, or just go with the flow of the black market trade prices?? With the latter they stand a good chance of making some serious $$$$!! O**

It's going to take a long time...DEA and the Minister already hinted at it but they missed the deadline for submission to CITES last year. Private stockpiles may well equal SanParks'...it is really a lot!

However CITES may approve fast as it is an emergency!? I'm all for it! \O

So am I for a business venture. Buy as much as the bank can loan you bucks, hang on to your own stockpile until the market is "right" again! O** It will be a never ending circle, and it will make the money making thugs even richer!!!

And, in the interim the poaching will continue unabated!!! O/ O/

Well, it worked for ivory, to flood the market a few years back, IMO!

Don't see other plans working? -O-

The illegal ivory trade still continues today, in fact, last year was the worst year for Elephant poaching, but it was completely overshadowed by the Rhino poaching surge!! 0-

But the leaglizing would be a long process: CITES would approve trade in rhino horn in 2016, consumer states would have to meet all the requirements then and trading could start perhaps in 2018 :-?

A long time for organized crime to organize profitable poaching
