Isnt it always the case the best sightings happen right before gate closing lol

and then snakes overloaded in form of a python and a grass snake - Great shots of both plus a scorpion - Can Imagine the crowd around that tree X#X
Ja Pumbaa, late afternoon lion sightings are always fun. The snake in the bathroom wasn't so fun! lol .

I never even noticed the spider...too worried about the snake! lol
Mel wrote:Apart from the lioness, I find this a rather disturbing instalment with all those spiders/pythons/scorpions O-/

lol

In fact, that python is really pretty, the scorpion rather impressive, but I still don't like the spider lol

The first lioness shot is awesome, mefinds! O:V O:V O:V
Thanks Mel...amazing how many people were more upset about the spider than the snake! -O- lol Thanks for your compliments on the Brat's pic. ;-)

And good the boy keeps a diary and does washing up...well parented!

Interesting the baby impala..saw some as well this weekend that weren't born last year, as per normal? Dunno how it got injured, but don't think it would just be left behind..weird! 0:

Nice snakes! \O ;-)
Yes, a well-parented Brat! I hope the baby impala found its herd but we didn't see any others around.

Thanks Roger...those late afternoon sightings always create tension when some want to stay as long as possible and others want to get back to camp! O** I'm just glad the camp visitors weren't in our hut! ;-)

Lower Sabie - Tamboti

12/04/2016

Today we were moving up to Tamboti, so we decided to head over the mountain on the H10. A busy jackal got the morning off to a good start. ;-)

Then, our first hyena of the trip! O:V

The early bird. ;-)

A grumpy looking buff.

Some early morning foraging.

Image

A startled Duiker.

Image

We came across a large carcass right next to the road and then a vehicle full of rangers pulled up next to us. They told us it was the remains of a poached rhino! Two rangers got out and soon disappeared into the bush on patrol. ^Q^ ^Q^

Image

Our first bee-eater...European. ;-)

Image

As the H10 starts descending towards Tshokwane we came across a Klipspringer in the road watching two hyenas approaching! O:V

The klippie gave a warning call to its mate which was on the side of the road and then bounced off to watch the hyenas from a safe place on a rock. ;-)

Very clever klippie - running of instead of watching mesmerizedly and waiting for the predator to arrive and maybe even attack.
Seems a bit of a brighter antelope than others. lol

Good shots again, especially the elusive duiker, Flutts! ^Q^

Brazen rhino poaching next to the road now...not a good signal to foreigners, and raises all sorts of questions!

Long horns on that klippie!
