Day 1, Monday June 3, Mata Mata.

Our first full day in the KTP and it was cloudy and drizzling - HUH, that's the last sort of weather I expected in the desert in the winter.

There were a few nice cloudscapes, including one with a rainbow.

A few Ks down the road we found an Ostrich creche.

Just before Veertiende water hole a couple of PCGs (Pale Chanting Goshawks) caught my eye and when I got the bins on them, there was the Honey Badger :-)

Then a car pulled up alongside us and I found out that we had a BIG problem! :shock: :shock: :shock:

Not fair though - I go twice a year and all I ever got to see was one distant
one and you go what, every 10 years, and get a super HB sighting like that?

We are going to KTP end of July but I am having second thoughts now if the temp is -1 and -6 O-/

What was the daytime temperature like? Hope you have time to thaw out :-)

Lovely pearl spotted owl and so glad you found Dakota ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

Hope we get to see him again :-)

He was miles away, those are heavily cropped pictures! But HBs are my favourite animal, I don't care how far away they are.

That's my leg he's chewing on - taken at Jo'burg Zoo a couple of years ago.
