I love this installment, Pumbaa!
What a wonderful time at Gardenia, always something there.
Yes, the hide is always cooler, as it is elevated, under trees, and sometimes has a breeze over the water!
Great crocodile and hamerkop shots, have you seen the huge nests they make?
Also very interesting warthog behaviour!
Looks like a tawny eagle in the dead trees.

Unfortunately we could not detect the nest - I know it is a huge one - It must have been in one of the trees surrounding the hide

On the other side of the causeway we even discovered a lot of fishes
who were still swimming around again we were lucky having found such a good filled pond along the way as most of them were already dried out or only had very few water left.
We stayed at this little pond quite a while as also no other cars were around and also noted this lovely dragonfly.
It got then a bit quiet again but we were lucky in detecting more rhinos although these were a bit hidden close to a tree and bush
It was indeed fantastic that we already saw that many of them although this was still our very first full day
and obviously the oxpecker did enjoy their presence as well.
Again it got quiet due to the midday heat but we were happy in tracing a large group of white storks
still hanging around in that area
and also captured a white crowned shrike which we noticed this year plentiful all over the park.

Meanwhile we reached the tar road leading to Crocodile Bridge camp and as always in this area masses of general game were hanging around especially this cute zebra youngster stole our heart.
That area also looked extreme browsed already compared to other parts of the park as the grass was overall extreme high and plentiful.
Mom and her youngster put up a show for us and we stayed quite a while with them
but then an urgent body break at Crocodile Bridge was more than neede and also the legs needed a stretch as well.
We afterwards paid a short visit to Gesamtombi which carried a lot of water and consequently quite a lot hippos were populating the water and as it meanwhile was about time we strolled slowly via the H5 / S108 into the direction of Biyamiti. At one causeway still a smaller puddle was left in the shade and consequently a small herd of elephant was around and took a refreshment
and as also a bit mud was left we had to wait a bit longer until they cleared the road but
shortly after them a large elephant bull forced us to stop again and we only passed same in a safety distance.
The rest of our drive got quiet as meanwhile the thermometer showed 37 degrees indeed this was the hottest day we experienced this year although must say the 36 degrees we had on most of the other days did not feel colder at all. So after we moved into bungalow No. 3 at Biyamiti and filled up the bird bath we enjoyed the silence in camp with a couple of cold ones on our verandah and for sure we were hoping for a couple of birds maybe visiting the bird bath. After a while we strolled to the hide and discovered elephants
as well as a couple of beautiful trees
on the other side of the nearly bone dry riverbed.
to be continued………

A cute zebra foal with mom
I think that your white-crowned shrike is a lesser grey shrike
More rhinos
And of course the white stork

How did you manage without aircon there?
Also love the tree pic.
