This darter was having a lot of fun repeatedly throwing the stick in the air and catching it.

The ostrich is looking quite strange

You had a lot of very nice encounters for an only afternoon and thank you for sharing them

Apparently the darter behaviour is quite common for them. Not sure what's wrong with the ostrich.

These pink flowers are aliens: Pompom weed Campuloclinium macrocephalum a Category 1 invasive alien species that spreads rampantly through Gauteng grasslands.

I like the Tern in flight - head sharp, and the wings give it a sense of motion. Nice!

We decided to visit Rietvlei on Sunday 13 March, here is some photos...
