Great lion sighting!! It's so exciting when the walk right past the car!

Interesting horns on that buff, and the other one looks like he has a few stories to tell!

Grrr, I keep losing my posts recently due to an instable connection

To cut it sort: Great sightings, particularly the lion walking by, the ellies and the waterbucks.

What luck with the Lions >Guess they were just following the instructions on the back window

Love the young Waterbuck I cant actually remember seeing any so young and interesting the variations in the Dagha boys horns

What a great first day

Agreed, they are definitely more fun when awake! And it certainly helped clear the traffic jam

Thanks Flutts, the lion was too close to be honest, but great to have him next to us

Yeah, we couldn't quite work out where all the cars had gone at the giraffe carcass

Sat 22nd June

With it being a weekend and after a big drive the day before, we decided to relax at the house in Marloth Park first thing, then head into the park later in the morning. We were fortunate to have some morning visitors









The kudu were all a bit nervous and soon moved away. We then had some red-faced mousebirds visit for a drink





We set off for Crocodile Bridge gate about 9am and had an easy entry after the early crowds had dispersed

I had plans to drive the S25 and then a few loops around the Malelane side. We had brought a packed lunch so we didn't need to worry where we were when it was lunchtime, but before venturing onto the S25 I insisted we have a quick look at Gezantombi/Vurhami bridge. I assumed by that time in the morning the water would be attracting a variety of game. As we trundled up the dirt loop towards the Gezantombi lookout, there was an explosion of wildebeest in the distance

Once everything calmed down we scanned around trying to work out what had spooked them so much, but you can never tell with these clowns whether it's something genuine or one of them accidentally kick-starting a chain reaction of running around for no reason. Continuing to the top bend we caught a glimpse of something moving... LION!

She popped out onto the road in front of us and seemed to be motoring along towards some unseen prize



We pulled into the parking lot next to her



A couple of cars at the waterhole lookout point entirely missed her as she sped off down the bank and disappeared from view. We then noticed a second lioness coming along the same route



The first lion came back along by the waters edge and flopped down



We couldn't believe our luck with the timing... what a fun start to the day. Naturally I was very pleased we had done the quick excursion down to Gezantombi

And your idea of an excursion down to Gezantombi turned out to be excellent Young healthy lionesses

Perfect timing!! The lions look quite young still.
