Love the Copper Dungbeetles Kheper nigroaeneus - the male will just roll the ball in straight line no matter what obstacles there are.

There are lots of different benches in camp lol

Cute hyena faces :-0 and a very long-necked "dikkop" ^Q^

Your "dikkop" is a crested korhaan ;-)

Klippie has said that it is not a dikkop, but in a winding way ;-) lol

Cute hyenas \O

0*\ Ok thanks for the ID . We enjoy Hyenas and their antics but not many do they often just drive past .

As we came closer and arriving back at the Lions there was not a single vehicle there  -O-

The Lions had moved about 10 cm and the one Male had made himself comfortable

Image

We sat with them while they shifted about we were not in any hurry and still vehicles passed us and drove in or out of camp ...
Image

After about half an hour a car that had passed us and gone into the camp came back and stopped . He rolled down the window and asked us I know your not sitting here watching Impala for half and hour (there were impala and Gnu in the background) .When I pointed out the Lions they laughed and laughed .

Once the second vehicle was present it became obvious to others there was something to see and more vehicles joined .Luckily it was getting late and so there was not allot of traffic . The workers that had earlier been taking thatch from the unit next to us also came back from the Dump and they also joined us watching .We were pleasantly surprised that they stayed for a good 30 or more minutes patiently enjoying the sighting as workers and delivery drivers often seem to be driving through the park in a hurry \O

eventually as it cooled there was a bit more activity
Image

But it was when the Female Lion got up the picture became clear as to what was going on .
Image

The Males flehmen grimace gave the Game away .They had obviously been Mating the Male seemed interested in her but she was not interested anymore and was more interested in the Gnu .The Second Male also stood up and moved towards them the First Male turned and gave a stare and he hastily moved away .
Image

Image

The Second Male was now lying in the middle of the road behind us .
Image

After a while the Female repositioned in front of us and was followed very closely by the Male ;-)
Image

We repositioned ourselves and got some of the nicest pictures of Lions in a long time mostly taken by SO as it was on her side of the Vehicle .
Image

Eventually the light was getting very bad and time was up
Image

We left for the long drive to camp all of 30 seconds =O:

I wonder why there are very often two males present when one of them is mating. Maybe a brother coalition and the "third wheel" is just waiting for his pal to finish his business -O-

Lovely portraits ^Q^
