Lots of water there, Pumbaa!

One must remember that the Tsendze is one of the bigger Kruger rivers that originates entirely inside the park, so the water is clean! \O

Lovely waders. [O]
At least during that trip the Tsendze was flowing but we saw it already totally dry :O^

We already noticed that phenomenon of the flying insects / ants or whatever emerged in Satara after the heavy rains one evening as suddenly the air was filled with insects and whilst got to the bottom of where the insects suddenly came from we noticed that they emerged from holes on the ground in swarms and after approx. 15 minutes nothing to be seen any more. Obviously that happened again now in that area and that is because all the birds where around such as this brown eagle on the ground

Image

or that bateleur as well

Image

and also a juvenile.

Image

Not only on the ground the birds could be seen but also in flight such as another brown eagle

Image

and even a European roller in flight

Image

and more white storks landed as well - Needless to say that there was indeed a continual coming and going and for sure we had a more than great time in absorbing everything.

Image

Right at Tihongonyeni nothing was around and so we turned around as we wanted once again drive the whole S50 and the ground was still laced with birds of all kinds but mostly with raptors but finally we spotted also another kori bustard,

Image

a tawny eagle

Image

and some were even on foot on their way

Image

but also the white storks were plentiful around

Image

and more brown eagles were sitting on nearly each bush along that road - As already said we never saw that many raptors ever before together.

Lots of these raptors could be seen right on the road in front of us but they were indeed very skittish and when we neared with the car they flew away only to land again on the road farer away

Image

but sometimes we had luck and we could capture their really awkward behaviour when came running

Image

like a wading bird.

Image

Image

It was indeed so funny and fascinating to watch

Image

and needless to say we could have spent the rest of the day watching and photographing all those birds but it was already late and still a long way to go and so we carried on

Image

but as often did not come that far as now three tsessebe females were about to cross the street right in front of us

Image

followed by a muddy tsessebe male

Image

as obviously they must have smelled extreme attractive

Image

Image

and he started to rough them up.

Image

to be continued......
