That is one heck of a honey badger sighting, Pumbaa!!! I'm sure that you and Timon were enjoying yourselves big time on that trip. Kruger offered you quite some special sightings.

In fact normally they do occur more often in camps than in the park but we were happy that we had such a fantastic sighting of same

Also the waxbills are more difficult to capture outside the camps than inside - Glady these were totally relaxed

It was the trip with the best Lion sightings and also the rarer antelopes were not that bad and Overall due to the missing grass it was a fantastic trip when it comes to the number of different sightings

The Ratelpan bird hide is then always our next stop but this year the visit was in vain there as no water was left only a bit further down the road we discovered still a bit water and there we could observe a green backed heron trying to catch some fish
and same was after a while in fact successful.
The signs of death could be seen nearly everywhere and we never discovered that much carcasses as during this trips.
Fortunately we crossed our path still with many alive animals such as kudus which were that day plentiful along that road,
giraffes which are always plentiful in that area
and a beautiful woodland kingfisher which were indeed a bit rare this year.
A group of elephants were resting under a tree – compared to the last days today the sun was again shining from above and it started to heat up again
and the little ones were allowed to take a nap and to recover from marching with the herd.
On one hand of the road the wasteland carried on
whilst on the other hand the views into the riverbed were as always stunning. For sure we admired the cute faces of the many impalas we met

and another steenbokkie which in fact occurred this year more than plentiful due to the missing high grass.
In one of the loops we drove to have a closer view into the riverbed we realized a small herd of elephants and mom already had dug a hole where now junior was allowed to use same as paddling pool
and same had such a fun in wallowing in the mud and we had more than fun in watching same.
At least here also on the ground there was still a little green grass left and everything looked already a bit nicer.
The little one was still busy in its hole and now even tumbled down to have a full body spa.
A small puddle was also still left and same had been used by the many impalas who arrived to quench their thirst
and more elephants arrived as well.
The rest of the drive was then nearly quiet again but we always love to drive that road as same is having sometimes surprises ready but this year it was a bit still there but we came across more zebras
and some of them allowed to take some nice close ups.
to be continued....
