My next visit to Rietvlei was on New Year's Eve. Taking advantage of the traditional afternoon off work.

This time I was joined by one of my colleagues who's also an AW member - balamohan.

As usual, we started at Coot's Corner.

In the reeds, a Red Bishop male

A Pied Starling with a late lunch.

Thanks for the comments everyone, it's been a bit of a trying time for me and my family over the past few weeks but it's time to get back to this and the other topics I've been contributing to.

We got to the Island View Hide where there were plenty of subjects.

Whitebreasted Cormorant.
