The "canary" looks like a cinnamon-breasted bunting to me, female I guess as the colours are not that bright.

But, wow, your tale here really whets the appetite for P-berg! You had amazing sightings :-0

I think the 'canary' might be a Streaky-headed Seedeater...I've only ever seen them in the Pilanesberg. -O-

Lovely reflection pics. \O

Nice birdies and a very nice rhino \O
Hi Liz. I have received the following answers to your question:

"Ra" meaning man, "tlhogo" meaning head

thlogo means head and Ra means to own

Maybe it means Headman from the tribe that used to live there.

Thanks for your ongoing comments.

Thanks for the possible bird ID Mel.

Mel, I think it is about time you visited Pilanesberg.

DAY 5 - TUESDAY 11 OCTOBER 2016 - AFTERNOON.

After a bite to eat and a bit of a midday snooze we decided to head straight down to Hippo Loop to see if the two lions were still there.

As we turned into Hippo Loop the number of cars lined up at that tree told us that they were still there.

We decided to sit out and wait as we sure they were going to move.

The following photos were taken between 15:40 and 17:40 after which we called it a day and headed back to camp. O/ O/ O/

The temperature in the car reached 38 and there was no shade to move to.

Far away in lala land.

Time for a stretch.

Licking my chops.

Checking out the menu.

Image

The usual hanger on waiting for dinner.

Image

Even with such a nice menu I just cannot wake up.

Headed back to camp for a nice cold shower and drink.
