I finally feel calm enough to continue this TT. On 18 December I was PM'd by one of our members who works for a Nelspruit newspaper and asked if it was OK if they used some of my images. For various reasons I didn't reply immediately but when I did they informed me that they had already gone ahead and used them anyway. 0= @#$

I'm still angry about this! According to the member who PM'd me, this newspaper has a "blanket agreement" to use images posted on the forum - in fact they have an agreement to use images of members who have given them prior permission on this topic Members who give Permission for Media to use their Photos. I do not give publications permission to use my images unless they pay for them! I did not spend many years and lots of money on my hobby so that some hack rag can use the fruits of my labour to sell their newspapers.

The committee have assured me that this will never happen again which is why I'm continuing this TT.

So, now I've got that off my chest, on with the TT.....

I suspect that badger may be one that has learned this tehnnique by chance, although they are simply voracious!

Don't think your eagle is a martial...how big was it, sort of?

Will forward!

You are quite right, I don't know why I thought it was a Martial when it's obviously a Tawny, I guess the excitement at seeing an HB got the better of me O\/

HBs are very special to me after I met BG who lives at Johannesburg Zoo. This one knew exactly what it was doing, it immediately flipped the tortoise over, found a fallen tree to prop it up with and attacked it from the rear, avoiding its shear-like jaws.

It was one of our best sightings of anything - ever! We'll be talking about it for many years.

That was the first time we have driven that road for many years - we haven't stayed at Maroela for a long time after a bad experience with noisy backpackers. It was still a completely unproductive road as we saw the HB on the S36 O**
