Nothing to worry about fellow "mite. The train was a little delayed getting out of the station so you have missed nothing. We're only about two weeks behind schedule but as Africa time goes, its nothing much. -O

Day 2:

We planned to go as far as Pretoriuskop and back following the Kid and his buddy. They were going to go via the Voortrekker road and we were going to go via the H3 and then H1-1. When we got to the Timferene loop, we decided it would make a nice little detour. Didn't see much but gt to a nice shady spot to stop and look around. The bird life was pretty decent and we tried to get pickshas of a Little bee eater. This was the best we could do.

While we were enjoying his aerobatic skills, we got a whatsapp message to say there was a lion kill on the Croc bridge - Lower Sabie road and debated this as an alternative option and soon agreed that it was doable without breaking any speed limits or other rules. It was at least a guaranteed lion sighting and Hunny wanted so badly to see the cats. Being a kill meant that they would be there for at least a few hours.

On the S25 we came across this very small croc. The smallest I have ever seen in KNP. If he had a twin brother and I knocked their teeth out, they might have made a nifty pair of shoes for me. O**

We saw one of RP's cousins a bit further along and then

these giraffe practicing for when they would really earnestly be fighting over territorial and mating rites.

Image

Then we saw RP hisself and wondered what he was doing out of bed since he was too sick to join us at the Slowveld meeting.
We looked for Boris but he was nowhere to be found.

Image

On the main highway we came across a small herd of Zeebies and this youngster was using the tree as a rubbing post. He had the good ense to use it to scratch first his neck and chin before turning to use it to relieve the itchies on his nether region.

Good one BH. \O

Love the Zebra bum-scratching pic. ^Q^

Always great to watch Little Bee-eaters. O/\

Boris was hiding in the thickest bush just behind RP. You can just make out his fedora through the branches.

Thanks for that bit of intel buddy. I thought it might be him but I wasn't 100% sure. 0*\

Er, I think the secret is to keep your eyes on the bush. O**

They are everywhere. =O:

So after seeing some general stuff (like JABIS) and a few other aminals, we eventually found the lion kill. It was very easy to see from about 10km away what with all the cars around. I think I have seen less cars on the M1 North at Grayston offramp at 8 am in the morning. 0*\

It was difficult to see the bally lazy puddy tats because they were in high grass. (No, not high on grass, just in high grass.) ^0^

We saw one lioness moving into the bush and on a hunch, I drove through the mayhem to another spot further up the road. Good call that one. We had this view all to ourselves. O\/

She lay around in a NOT so lady-like fashion. Then she rolled over a bit. The way her belly was extended, I'll bet she felt about the same as I do after a night out at a buffet meal.
