Nice colours, Pumbaa!
Those storks really are revolting!

Another juvenile bateleur was the last animal we saw
before we reached Timbavati picnic spot and after a short break there we tried the S39 Northwards but same was as already expected closed so we had no alternative that to try the S127 which we did but then a Sanparks vehicle approached us and we were informed that they now also closed that road and asked us to turn around via the S40 the way we just drove…..
At least they allowed us enough time to drive back and so we had a great time in observing and photographing our very first black back jackals for this year
and on top in the open and both were very relaxed.
It must have been a couple and we had once again a fantastic time with them as on top no Sanparks vehicle in sight to urge us to carry on
and so we stayed with them until we got our shots.
The rest of our drive until we again came by Satara was quiet but on the tar road we noticed a Wahlberg’s eagle
relatively close in a tree
and some very muddy zebras.

The new road, the S147, was certainly closed as well which was indeed more than upsetting but could not be changed so we drove steadily North via the tar road at least it was now dry and it started to clear up and a red crested korhaan
was running around a bit disorganized.
At least it was a bit more around now and so we noticed more giraffes
and zebras
as well as a nicely posing lark.
Now we only hoped that around Olifants not all sand roads will be closed as well but we were confident and meanwhile stopped for some strange succulents
and for a pair of double banded sandgrouse.
to be continued….
