Yes... I do get you being after the painted snipe! Beautiful bird and luckily that bucket list sighting was also a really good one in terms of photography
What's going on with you and the eagle owls?

Another great sighting!!!
Very cute waterbuck chick too

Great sighting of the Painted Snipe

You don't often see the giant eagle owls on the ground!
And the waterbuck is too cute!!

Was its mom nearby?

Our bird luck continued and we noticed a purple roller,
some still very wet grey louries
and another fish eagle before we then stood again in front of the Satara camp gate and only after a short break there we hurried out again as it was for us still far too early to stay the rest of the day in camp and as the S126 was in the past always a lovely drive and same had not been driven this year we decided to give this road another try and it took not that long when we stopped for an African fish eagle
and a Wahlberg eagle who simply had to be captured as same posed so nicely
and after same called whoever
same finally took off.
Although the road was today a bit quiet we had a nice time and stopped for another juvenile bateleur,
saw more grey louries, giraffes and a steenbok
love that shot of the two species together.

For us this road is always a hot spot for steenbokkies and so it was today as we observed a very wet she
and also the appropriate he.
The kudu lady under a marula tree is always a nice subject
especially with the more and more getting out sunlight
the red-billed hornbills appeared suddenly on the scene
and we got entertained by a zebra rolling on the ground in the dust
and finally nearly jumped on all four legs at the same time just like cats normally only do.
Needless to say that we paid another visit at Ximangwaneni and the obligatory drinking elephant was
around and put up a show for us.
In the distance we noticed two juvenile bateleurs one was running around on the ground and stepped into a pile of poo and we had a good laugh about how same got rid of same but finally same was successful
the other one stayed the whole time in the tree.
to be continued….
