The monitor looks quite big, but it is difficult to judge from a photo if you do not know how tall the grass is
Nice pics of the wildebeest and calf
Also some nice birds
It was indeed one of the larger monitors we so far saw

Great again! All of it... well, minus the wildebeest… I get to see them often too.
Not the rest though! And the hornbill captures are particularly nice
Well when there is nothing you have to be satisfied even with wildebeest - Although must say I love to watch them they can sometimes be so comical

Great for us that the heavy rain stopped and the animals came out again

We then made a longer break in camp as it heated up even more but for sure were still in the mood for an afternoon drive which led us again into the direction of Nsemani dam but before we reached same we stopped for lots of carmine bee eaters,
European bee eaters
and a kudu lady.
At Nsemani dam we were told about a dead elephant where some lions only fed earlier but where now gone - We neither saw the lions nor the elephant carcass but the smell was unmistakably and noticed a lot of vultures where we supposed the carcass must have been.
In the distance we noted a beautiful rainbow
and then we decided to pay another visit at Girivana where once again a troop of baboons
could be met - "This is my mom!"
All the rain that had fallen early that day could not be noticed any more
and as nothing else could be seen we returned to Nsemani dam where we now spotted waterbucks and lot of hippos outside the water
mainly those cute youngsters dared to leave the water and had a great time together
to be continued.....

Nice pics of the kudu family.
The ground was definitely thirsty! It drinks up the rain water immmediately.
