Exquisite coloration on the monitor, what a specimen! ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

And the hornbill looks like a vampire or something - unique! X#X X#X X#X

Lots of babies too!

Love the waterbuck as well, Pumbaa!

Nice pics of the wildebeest and calf ^Q^ ^Q^

Also some nice birds \O
It was indeed one of the larger monitors we so far saw O/\

Mel wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 4:22 pm Great again! All of it... well, minus the wildebeest… I get to see them often too. lol
Not the rest though! And the hornbill captures are particularly nice O:V
Well when there is nothing you have to be satisfied even with wildebeest - Although must say I love to watch them they can sometimes be so comical lol

We then met again one of the breeding brown snake eagles we already saw yesterday,

a thrush

and on the corner with the S90 a family of kudus came along

Image

and finally posed extreme nicely for us. The start was made by one of the females,

Image

Image

followed by an extreme cute youngster

Image

Image

and finally dad came along as well.

We stayed with them until they were no longer to be seen and were glad when we could capture another red billed quelea

Image

and one of the many territorial wildebeest bulls we do always met along this road.

We then made a longer break in camp as it heated up even more but for sure were still in the mood for an afternoon drive which led us again into the direction of Nsemani dam but before we reached same we stopped for lots of carmine bee eaters,

European bee eaters

and a kudu lady.

Image

At Nsemani dam we were told about a dead elephant where some lions only fed earlier but where now gone - We neither saw the lions nor the elephant carcass but the smell was unmistakably and noticed a lot of vultures where we supposed the carcass must have been.

Image

In the distance we noted a beautiful rainbow

Image

Image

and then we decided to pay another visit at Girivana where once again a troop of baboons

Image

could be met - "This is my mom!"

Image

All the rain that had fallen early that day could not be noticed any more

Image

and as nothing else could be seen we returned to Nsemani dam where we now spotted waterbucks and lot of hippos outside the water

Image

mainly those cute youngsters dared to leave the water and had a great time together

Image

to be continued.....

Nice pics of the kudu family. \O

The ground was definitely thirsty! It drinks up the rain water immmediately.
