Strange that the tusks had not been removed. We saw an elephant carcass on the S40 a few years. It had died of natural causes but the rangers removed the tusks immediately and left the carcass for the scavengers.

Maybe it died that morning and the rangers didn't know about it

It's possible that they didn't know about it because you have to turn off onto a loop to get to this sighting
